Minutes for July Meeting
July 20, 2017
Shannon Clinic Conference Room)
The regularly scheduled membership meeting was called to order at 6 pm, by President Pam Darby. There were 7 members and students present.
Minutes were presented, and approved without correction, on motion by Kathe Conner, and seconded by Jerrie Smithwick. Jerrie Smithwick, Treasurer, reported a current balance of $2,694.09. No bills are outstanding. A discussion was held that this balance should be sufficient to cover expected expenses of the October Educational Series.
Pam updated the status of the Educational Series. She stated we will need to pay for a room for speaker, Dr. Carton, for an overnight stay. She states that she is working on the brochure, and that they can be printed at NC by the ASU Educational Department. Pam also has spent much time with Trish Vanover, of Community Medical Center, to provide accreditation hours. They recommend a fee of $75.00 for the event, which includes breakfast and lunch, with 6 CEU's provided,. It will be held on October 21st, from 7:15 am to 3:30 pm. The Brochure will go up on the Website, where payment will be made. Registration will close October 14. Discussion was held to put the physicians' lectures up on the Website, on about October 18. We will need to provide an honorarium for the speakers, as well as for Trish, who has been doing this on her own time. We will solicit donations from the community to sponsor this, as well as for NP student scholarships. San Angelo Home Health has already indicated a desire to contribute a sponsorship. Lee will write a letter that can be use when asking for donations.
Volunteer projects were tabled at this time, due to lack of funds. We will revisit this in the future when the checking account has been replenished.
An announcement was made that there are free diabetic education classes offered at Rust Street Ministries every Tuesday at 10 AM in collaboration with a diabetic educator and Wesley Nurse.
There being no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm. An informative program was given by Dr. Tony Contreras, Ph.D, on curanderismo and herbal remedies.
